Are you involved in Japanese cultural activities such as dance, kendo, judo, taiko, or traditional arts? Here’s your chance to share your passion and help elevate the cultural spirit of the festival even further! Join us in celebrating the beauty and energy of Japanese traditions with thousands of visitors.

Organized by the Japan Fair Association of Vancouver (JFAV), Sakura Days Japan Fair is a key event of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, a joyful celebration of spring and culture.

  • 2025 Attendance: Over 14,000 visitors in two days!
  • Festival Highlights: Vendor booths, cultural performances, Experience Japan activities, and Taste of Japan food experiences.
  • Tickets: Online pre-sale only. Admission grants access to all vendor areas, performances, and activities.

Performing Stages Criteria

The Japan Fair Association of Vancouver (JFAV) carefully selects Cultural Participants whose performances and activities contribute to a deeper understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture in Canada.

All participation is subject to JFAV approval.

Performing Stages Participation Details

The stage and performance schedule will be determined and arranged by JFAV

Performer Stages Will Be Provided With:

  • A shared dressing room for performers
  • A basic PA system at the performance venue
  • A Stage Manager, Sound Technician, and MC (for both Cherry Stage and Floral Stage performances)
  • Tables and/or chairs as required

Performing Stages Responsibilities

Participants are responsible for:

  • Providing all necessary materials and equipment (e.g. music, instruments, costumes, props, decorations, etc.)
  • Carrying out performances professionally and in accordance with JFAV guidelines
  • Arriving at the Cultural Participant entrance 60-75 minutes before scheduled performance time 
  • Arriving at the designated performing stage 30-45 minutes before the activity to check in and set up
  • Assuming full responsibility for contractual obligations related to the event
  • Purchasing individual insurance coverage for the event
  • Collecting applicable taxes for any sold items

NOTE:

Failure to meet these requirements may result in cancellation of participation.

Facilities & Security

Washrooms:

  • Located in the Visitor Centre and near the Upper Lawn.
  • A limited supply is available at performance venues.

Power:

  • Additional power requests must be clearly detailed in the application form.

Security:

  • Onsite security will be provided; however, participants are responsible for their own belongings.

Weather & Safety:

  • JFAV reserves the right to suspend or close performances or booths in the event of unsafe weather conditions or other safety concerns.

Marketing & Promotion

SDJF receives extensive media coverage through:

  • Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival promotions
  • Community event listings & partner websites
  • Email marketing campaigns and social media outreach

By participating, vendors and performers grant JFAV permission to use their names, photos, and business details for promotional purposes.

Media Interviews: If you are willing to participate in interviews, please indicate this on your application form and specify your language preferences.
