Zakkushi – Vancouver’s First Yakitori Izakaya, Celebrating 20 Years! Zakkushi opened its doors 20 years ago as the very first yakitori izakaya in Vancouver. Since 2004, we’ve been sharing the joy of authentic Japanese skewers with the community. We grill our yakitori over Binchotan charcoal — it brings out an incredible flavor that you just can’t get with gas. Our mission is simple: to make people happy through great food.
