Goosefeather Kamishibai

FLORAL STAGE (Sat)

Participant Image

Honoured mime, dance, and theatre artist, Yayoi Hirano, together with storyteller Naomi Steinberg will bring to life the story of Goosefeather, through the art of kamishibai. The Goosefeather kamishibai is an original story, which Naomi Steinberg wrote in 2015 while travelling around the planet with the Goosefeather project (www.goosefeather.ca). When in Yokohama, Japan, she had the opportunity to perform for a group of children in a community centre. For this, she wrote a kamishibai based on the story of Goosefeather. ** A playfully compelling, engagingly sweet, and exciting show about going around the planet by land and sea. Goosefeather wants all creatures to feel the wonder of being alive on our precious planet. ** In 2024 Naomi was awarded a creative residency by Le Conseil Culturel et Artistique de la CB. Because of this award, she had the great good fortune to begin working with Yayoi Hirano and the story is now translated into both French and Japanese. The illustrations for this project were done by Sarah Hashmi.
